With his horn-rimmed glasses, his thin garland of white hair on the head and his classy gray suit, Augustino Sanchez — known as "Augie" to friends and family — looks more like one of Joe Marchetti’s elegant customers than like the clichéd image one has of an executive chef.

Augie has been a chef in Chicago for over 40 years. Through the years the Como Inn became the restaurant of choice for tens of thousands of people for romantic dates, wedding celebrations, anniversaries, and banquets. It is in fact difficult to find a Chicagoan who did not attend a major function at the Como Inn. When it closed after a fantastic 77-year run, Joe decided to open the west room of the Galleria Marchetti and to turn it into a restaurant decorated in warm, earthy tones reminiscent of Tuscany.

The 75-seat Piazza M was a dream come true for Joe, who for many years fantasized about running a small, intimate, neighborhood restaurant similar to the Como Inn in its early days. When Joe passed away in 2001, Piazza M and Galleria Marchetti continued to operate under the management of Joe's son JP and wife Mary Jane, along with the key assistance of Augie. JP and Mary Jane decided to rename the restaurant Joe Marchetti’s Ristorante as a tribute to their deceased loved one.


Price is $65.00 per person, for members, or $75.00 for non-members, inclusive.

Mixed field greens salad with hearts of palm, walnuts,
mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, and balsamic vinaigrette

Prosciutto e Melone
Fresh melon topped with Prosciutto di Parma

Pollo Saltimbocca
Chicken laced with prosciutto and sage, sauteed in butter
and sherry wine, and served over a bed of garlic spinach

Tiramisu
Homemade dessert made with lady fingers,
mascarpone cheese, and coffee liqueur
